NABACHWA SSENSALO

Horton Technique

Nabachwa Ssensalo was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. She has trained with the Lula Washington Dance Theatre (LWDT), the Alvin Ailey dance school, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Bella Lewitsky and Stefan Wenta. She found a way to tour professionally with LWDT for 10 years, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) for 15 years, serve as Rehearsal Coach for both, and finish her Economics degree at Occidental College as an Irvine Scholar in four years. In her “off” time from touring she judged for Midwest Starz and Encore dance competitions. Currently, she is a freelance artist and has appeared in The WizPoetry in Motion, Love Loss and What I Wore and Criminal Hearts, for which she received a DayTony for a leading role. Through LWDT and DCDC she has taught students and adults of all levels across the country including UCLA, University of Dayton, Denison University, Cedarville University and Wright State University. Her goal as a teacher is to encourage every student to learn something from each class and never stop growing. “Every class is equally an opportunity to challenge one’s technique and to peel off layers in order to release the authentic artist within.”
