Beginning September 01,
2012 with the
2012-2013 school year.
The Conservatory Program
is a non-accredited two-year, four-semester Certificate program.
It includes 7 subjects, 13
classes and 18-19 hours of instruction per week.
Assigned prerequisite and
core dance and theory classes receive a letter grade and earn a total of 66
program units. Core dance classes include Ballet, Contemporary Jazz, Jazz,
Jazz Funk, Hip Hop and Tap classes. Theory classes include Dance
Kinesiology, Dance History, Choreography and Dance Pedagogy.
One elective class that
meets twice weekly is required. Elective classes are graded Pass/Fail and
earn 1 unit. Four elective units are required for the certificate. One
additional elective class per semester is available for an additional unit
fee.
To complete the program,
curriculum requirements and a minimum of 70 units must be completed.
Applications are accepted
beginning February for the following school year.
The school year begins
the first week of September and includes two semesters: Fall (Sep-Dec) and
Spring (Jan-Apr). Each semester ends with a week of finals followed by
a break.
A summer semester
(May-Aug) is offered to participants who may need to make up units.
Program Advisors work with
the participant throughout their program to establish their schedule and maintain their training program.
Grade reports, student
transcripts, and other services included.
