AMI MATTISON

Jazz

Ami Mattison grew up dancing, singing and acting in a small town in Michigan. She loved all aspects of performing and grew to respect all stage craft during summers in community theater projects. After high school, Ami decided that of all the performance arts, she loved dancing the most and decided to focus on performing and creating movement.

Ami moved to New York to train and eventually began teaching at Broadway Dance Center. She was on faculty at Peridance Center and PMT Dance Studio for six years. She has taught as faculty, guest artist, and intensive instructor at competitive and recreational studios across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and now California. Ami's choreography has been commissioned for festivals, and competitions including; DRA:Stars of Tomorrow and Stamford Connecticut's Annual Dance Fest. She has won top choreography awards at several competitions.

Ami is a former member of several dance companies, including SO Dance Collective and CollidE dance. As a member of CollidE dance, under the direction of Erica Michelle Sobol, she performed in many showcases and full concerts as ensemble, principle, and soloist.

Now in Los Angeles, Ami is pursuing her passion of training dancers/artists and creating movement. She is teaching in professional studios, competitive studios and universities in LA and across the country. Ami has also recently showcased new work in LA and is looking forward to presenting more pieces in the year to come.
